A LITTLE BIT OF OUTPUT

just a few layouts i've done lately.
they seem quite full of junk...i mean goodies.
i think i'm in a 'slather the doodads on' kind of mood.
but i also feel like i'm in a bit of a funk.
lots of strips of paper.
lots of doodads.
need some inspiration.
shake things up a bit.
keep working towards finding my style.
keep experimenting.
whether or not these are my favorite layouts,
i feel so happy that i've preserved these memories.
scrapbooking rocks. it really does.

just turned them in last week.

RANDOM SCRAPPINESS

brought these boards home from the store yesterday.
figured i'd post them here.

zoo layout: not a product i'd probably pick,
but i used a bunch of photos which is always good.
and i enjoyed making the patchworky border on the left.






haiti layout: just felt sad and wasn't sure what to do.
sometimes scrapbooking is a great outlet for your feelings
and sentiments.





remember layout: i'm in love with this photo of the boys.
i've used it on more than one page.
and i'm sure i'll use it again.
tried my hand at a trendy banner.
i like it, but know i'd like it better if i'd get brave
and try sewing on my pages.

GOODBYE TO MY OWN PERSONAL CHEERS

well, what can i say. lasting memories, my local scrapbook store, is closing.
CLOSING.
i'm still in shock.
many of us are.
it was my home away from home.
my place of inspiration.
my getaway spot.
my happy place.
my ispendwaytoomuchmoneyherebutithelpsmysanity store.
a place to visit my friends.
a place that let me be something different than mom.
a place that let me design and teach for them.
a place that got me doing more of what i love...scrapbooking.
a place to feel creative and inspired and appreciated.
a place for a few compliments now and then.
a place where people were happy to see me.
my own personal cheers.

but apparently, it's a dog eat dog world and i'm wearing milk bone underwear.
because the owners are retiring and my happy place is going away.

i'm sad.
really sad.

i'm sure i'll have more to say on the subject later.
but right now? sad.

JOURNALING TIPS AND TRICKS

i've developed a class for lasting memories, my local scrapbooking store in lynnwood, wa. it's called journaling tips and tricks. my goal is to help fellow scrapbookers who may be hesitant to put their stories on their pages. scrapbooking is first and foremost about STORIES. while the pictures are certainly important, i think without words, they have no context. not all the time, of course. there is surely room for layouts with a label or a title only. scrapbooking is a hobby, after all, so i don't believe there are any specific rules, and if there are rules, they are surely breakable. but i do believe that journaling makes our pages more meaningful. i do believe that telling our stories is valuable. and i am really excited about this class. i sure hope people will sign up!
