i got a little bee

in my bonnet the other day.

you see, there were these huge bags

full of tons of lego instruction booklets.

they were taking up space,

and not in a useful way.

the booklets were folded and torn.

they were a mess.

did the guys care.

nope.

did i?

heck, yes.

aah. that's better.

all neat and tidy.

in alphabetical order,

grouped by type.

with cute photos, too.

it's a dream come true

for this mom.

i mean, really,

legos are practically a part

of our family.

we should treat them

and their instruction booklets

accordingly,

don't you think?

DAPPER DRYER

we have a mustache

on our dryer.

don't you?

if you're gonna have to do

the hideous chore of laundry,

you might as well have someone

to talk to.

someone classy.

there's a mystery beeping in our house.

it goes off every 15 minutes.

we lived with it for a week,

trying to sleuth out what it was.

but not sleuthing very hard.

i mean, really.

it's not like we're sherlock or something.

we finally confined it to the garage.

turns out it's a verizon battery

or something not very exciting 

like that.

i realized that i leave a trail of bobby pins

wherever i go.

wyatt pointed it out.

he says he finds them in

the oddest of places.

my current favorite quote:

i'm reevaluating my home.

well, not really,

but sort of.

you see, the sears repair guy

came to fix our washer.

he was here a while.

(and to get this straight,

the house was pretty darn clean,

except for the pile of legos

in the living room and

nerf darts strewn about).

eventually he asked,

do you run a daycare?

like i said,

i'm reevaluating my home.

not really,

but sort of.

it makes me happy to see someone

singing in their car.

maybe it makes me feel

less of a fool.

we still have gingerbread houses

on display in our house.

and it's driving me nuts.

each time i pick up

my entertainment weekly magazine,

i lose a little of my self respect.

if i read it in the bathroom

that feeling reduces a bit.

go figure.

i find facebook a bit creepy.

forgive if i offend.

gray-blue walls and happy orange towels,

 

a resin balloon buddy to keep you company,

 

 

a cleanliness reminder

(flush the toilet...or else),

and a bit of quirky humor thrown in, just for the guys.

 

my hubby did such a great job! thanks, hubby! you are one cute diy-er.

 

and since it's the men's room, i don't have to clean it, right?

he's super sleepy.

and strong. and apparently, he likes to roar.

 he's mr. handsome, too. i mean, really. look at this guy!

we are so happy he's here.

JUST A HINT OF PINK

but it's almost valentine's day, you know.

 

so I spruced up the happy room with a few goodies.

 

and added a hint of pink, for hearts and love and all.

 



 

perhaps it was an excuse to display my pink rotary phone.

boon had a writing assignment recently. he was asked to write a paragraph using this prompt:

what if...you could trade places with anyone for a day? who would it be and why?

 

here's what he wrote:

     if i had to pick someone to switch with, it would be hudson, my brother. it would be hudson because we have a ton of things in common like video games, movies, legos, not wanting to go to school, and a ton of other stuff. another reason about picking hudson is because he's in my family. i like him and i think i have a great family. if you had to pick someone, it may not be your brother or sister (if you have one) but those are the reasons of why i'd pick my brother.
