i'm 39 for one more day, so i thought i'd commemorate the past decade with 39 things about my current self.
39 at 39
1. i found my first gray hair this year.
2. i'm drawn to items that are round - mirrors, patterns, vases, etc.
3. i have to expel a great deal of effort to pass by a thrift store without stopping in.
4. i'm mildly obsessed with jonathon adler.
5. i enjoy writing.
6. i have a favorite number. it's 5.
7. i have twitchy toes.
8. i like artificial cherry flavor but hate artificial strawberry flavor.
9. now that we own a tent trailer, i actually sorta kinda enjoy camping. sorta kinda.
10. i am in a sci fi/fantasy state - books and movies, especially about vampires.
11. i think alec baldwin is hilarious but am sure he must be a total jerk in person.
12. i hate commercials that make the presidents on paper money talk.
13. without a doubt, i believe - i know - my husband is the best there is (no offense, other husbands of the world - not my other husbands, just other men who are husbands).
14. i have an obsessive personality.
15. i am a collector - of whatever attracts me. currently it's etsy artwork, milk glass, thrift store items to spray paint, and ideas.
16. i consider myself an introverted extrovert. or maybe an extroverted introvert.
17. i grab something wherever i go - pieces of "cultural memorabilia" - a business card from a shop i like, a take-out menu from a new or notable restaurant, a gift card (without money on it) from a store i frequent, or whatever is available - pamphlet? postcard? magnet? tag? sticker?
18. i have big-time trouble making decisions that will be relatively permanent and/or expensive - anything from what preschool to choose to which fabric to upholster a new sofa. the thought of choosing a tatoo is a mind-boggling joke.
19. i have always felt i was meant to be a mom of boys.
20. i've always been a fan of potty humor. yep. i said it.
21. my gun sound effects are better than ever before.
22. i like my nails cut short.
23. i am thankful to have some very kind, fun, intelligent, thoughtful, loyal and fascinating girlfriends.
24. i miss my family and although i'm very happy where i live, it's also hard to live away from all of them.
25. i am very wordy.
26. i want to take voice lessons and gain enough confidence to sing karaoke...just once.
27. my sense of direction is pretty good...i think.
28. i am attached to many of my kids' toys.
29. i wouldn't want to live without my laptop, camera, printer and cell phone.
30. i lack technological savvy.
31. i prefer ice in my soda, in a glass - no cans or bottles.
32. my brain is constantly working. i never seem to get a break.
33. i want to see a bull moose in the wild.
34. i miss my grandparents, especially grandma lorraine. i hope i am like her in some ways.
35. i'm fidgety...at the movies, dinner table, car, etc.
36. i love thai chicken salad, authentic steak tacos and anything coconut.
37. i love color. color, color, color!
38. i am currently watching so you think you can dance and the glee project. when there's not a summer tv lull, i like the guild, vampire diaries, and pretty much anything by joss whedon.
39. i am more apprehensive about turning 40 than i thought i would be.
