BIRDS GETTIN' ANGRY

this guy turned 7 in 2012. 7!

 

 

and his party theme of choice? angry birds, of course.

 

 

 

hudson wanted to be involved in every aspect of planning his party. he crafted the pizza into the red angry bird, meticulously arranging the olive eyebrows just so.

 

 

him and i spent quite a bit of time creating this poster scene for the decorations. i was the cutting helper and the supply getter while he was the visionary and overall creative director.

 

 

 

we found online printables and made piggies to hang from the ceiling. and of course there were hats. red angry birds for the guests and the black bomb bird for the birthday boy and his brother.

 

 

 

my guys made balloon piggies, too, with sand in the bottom for a little décor and a possible bowling game.

 

 

we collected boxes for ages. let me rephrase that. i collected boxes for ages. i scrounged at the grocery store and the liquor store. i actually went dumpster diving in an alley behind a breakfast restaurant we went to in seattle. ok, by' dumpster' i mean huge recycle bin and by 'alley' i mean 'parking lot.'

 

the boxes were stacked and the kids took turns pummeling them with  "angry birds" (a.k.a. miscellaneous spherical objects - i have boys, you know...gotta keep it clean).

 

 

 

the boxes began as towers and soon were reduced to rubble. the kids decided to become the angry birds, charging into the piles. it was super fun to watch. such a great group of kids.

'STACHE SHOWER

yep. we had it. a mustache shower. who wouldn't want to attend a facial hair themed baby shower? best shower theme ever, don't you agree?

and what type of festivities would a mustache shower entail? why, bubble gum cigars, facial hair glasses and a 'wet your whiskers' root beer tasting of course. there was also a wide assortment of delightful cookies generously baked by some of the guests.

 

i think the most fun i had was watching everyone gather around the mustache table, deciding whether to use the stick on fuzzies, the finger tattoos or the foamies on a stick. there was no excuse for not wearing a 'stache. a mustache for everybody! leave no guest without a mustache behind!

EZRA TURNS ONE!

our little peanut pack nephew ezra turned the big O-N-E last month.


here he is with his mommy (my sister) and his very own pillsbury dough boy cake. there's a story behind that cake but i'll save that for another time.

ezra is seriously one of the most wonderful little guys ever. he has this personality that just draws you in. little bugger.

i brought some of the decorations for the shindig, but perhaps the best decorations were two balloon bouquets that our other amazing nephew, camden, attached himself to before the party even began. he carried those suckers around for several hours. seriously, i think he let go maybe twice. and each time for like a second. and then he'd grab them and off he'd go again. it was awesome. we called them travelling decorations. i think we could hire him out for parties. i really do.


it was such a great day.

IT'S A PARTY...SNEAK PEEK!

our sweet little nephew ezra (have you met him?) turns one next month and my sister is letting me help with the decorations for the party. woo to the hoo! i love this stuff.

here's a sneak peek of a few things i'm working on. my goal is to use regular 'ol craft supplies and a bit of elbow grease to make things inexpensive and easy peasy. i'll fill you in on all the party festivities after the big event!



ezra is seriously one of the most happy-go-lucky kids i've ever met and we are very excited to help him celebrate the big ONE!

THIS GUY IS 8!

so, way back in october, this amazing guy turned 8. 8! unbelievable! and he requested an indiana jones AND star wars party. and i do believe i was on crack, but i agreed to 18, count 'em 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17...18 kids.

we had an indy tablescape full of goodies from thrift stores...

and a delightful little cake decorated by daddy and the boys. basically a bunch of figures stuck in frosting...just exactly what the birthday boy ordered.

the kids dined on yoda soda (lime sherbet and sprite)...
crunchy jedi light saber breadsticks...
death star donut holes...
wookie cookies...
and padawan pizzas (and yes, i realize it wasn't the healthiest of fare. we just went with it. it was a party, after all).each kid got an indy hat and played a few games including the mummy wrap... and practiced using the force with balloon light sabers.

the birthday boy was so happy on this day and so deserving...what a great guy.

we love you so much, boon!

PARTY FOR TATER TOT

hudson chose the name "tater tot" for his not-yet-born cousin, Ezra. and we all met in spokane to celebrate said tater tot and his mommy (aunt lissa), daddy (uncle michael - who was running a marathon the day of the party) and brother addison.

for this shower theme i chose little birdies with orange, aqua and white. auntie jessica made the beautiful paper birdies and the darlingly packaged and delicious cream cheese mints. i scoured thrift stores and discount shops for birdies and cages to spray paint and added a few other goodies here and there. here are some shots of the event. we had a nice time and i sure hope lissa and addison did, too.
