OUR DREAMY DESK

we had a desk in the kitchen.

it only fit one person.

we have two boys.

they have homework.

so we updated things a bit.

my handy husband went to town,

installing cabinets.

we had a countertop installed,

and i had the pleasure of adding

doodads to the top to make it

cute and functional.

we love it.

and because of our new lovely desk,

we don't have a junk drawer.

don't get me wrong.

we have junk.

in drawers.

lots of it.

but everything has a home.

and it's miraculously staying that way.

hello miscellaneous office supplies.

are you all comfy cozy?

aaah, pens and scissors. 

so easy to put my hands on just what i need.

and let's not forget you, batteries.

and flashlights and tools.

you are the apple of my eye.

this stuff makes me crazy with happiness.

and wyatt appreciates it, too.

especially the battery drawer.

that's a dude's paradise.

O IS FOR ORGANIZE

i got a little bee

in my bonnet the other day.

you see, there were these huge bags

full of tons of lego instruction booklets.

they were taking up space,

and not in a useful way.

the booklets were folded and torn.

they were a mess.

did the guys care.

nope.

did i?

heck, yes.

aah. that's better.

all neat and tidy.

in alphabetical order,

grouped by type.

with cute photos, too.

it's a dream come true

for this mom.

i mean, really,

legos are practically a part

of our family.

we should treat them

and their instruction booklets

accordingly,

don't you think?

FIRST PROJECT OF 2011

declutter the refrigerator. i'm thankful for a fridge, you know? to keep our food from spoiling, but also to have a place to hang creations from the boys. but after a while, the fridge looks less like a kid gallery and more like a dumping ground. and with all the decluttering and organizing projects i have swarming around in my head, i chose this one to begin with. it's small. and i need small...to feel accomplished. and also because i haven't had much time this weekend in between my naps. i'm just storing up some energy for all the fun and frolic i plan on having this year.

and in case you were wondering, that's our job chart...ewoks and jawas. oddly enough, it works. well, the star wars thing, not always the guys who are supposed to be doing the jobs.


seriously, i can breathe better already.
