To kick off my first ever blog entry, I thought I'd ramble along with some random Davis Family thoughts from this summer:
Recovering from foot surgery takes a long time. I'm quite sick of it all.
Apparently, Hudson (3) has a baby in his tummy. It's a brother named Teesha and is still growing. When he feeds it cereal, it spits it out.
To 5 3/4 year old Boon (yes, he insists on the 3/4),the coolest thing about using your money to buy something at the store is getting change.
123456 spells "Carrot" in Hudson's special spelling land.
The process of growing veggies in the backyard is really all we needed this year. The harvest was meager, but we all had fun tending to our tiny carrots, wilted lettuce, and slug-eaten broccoli. The birds ate the strawberries and blueberries, but we have high hopes for the tomatoes.
Trophies are no longer just for winning. Kiddie soccer players and t-ball players now get them, and it's darn near cooler than playing or getting a uniform. Even coach Wyatt got one, so now we've got a collection going. How about the soccer mom? Or the t-ball coaches assistant/paper keeper/organizer/wife? Hmmmm....
Despite pouring rain and chilling winds, the Oregon Coast is still beautiful and fun.
Camping in the Olympic National Park is beautiful. It has it all...beaches and forests and rainforests and wildlife and fun for the whole family (well, except for the gimpy post-surgery mom who had to cross damn-near 1/4 mile of enormous driftwood to get to the beach...sheesh!). Despite that, we loved it!
We are very thankful that a visit with the children's cardiologist found Hudsons heart murmur to be innocent. Phew.
Getting your van detailed inside and out is a luxury everyone should have at least once in their lives. Sweet living.
I couldn't have been prouder to see Boon in a play after a weeklong drama camp. He was awesomely adorable and loved it. Maybe he'll have the theater interest like his mama used to.
Having my first mammogram really made me think about age. Hmmmm..37 ain't too far from 40 which ain't too far from 50 which...Crazy how fast time flies.
Kindergarten is looming, and while Boon seems excited and confident, his mother's childhood anxieties are rushing back. Interesting.
If you leave rocks and shells collected from the beach in a bag too long before you clean them out you just might come close to puking. Just might.
Scrapbooking has become such a great way for me to live more in the present moment and appreciate the little things in life.
Ten days in Germany for Wyatt and he still managed to communicate with an elderly man that knew no English. With Wyatt's little German, he was able to get where he needed to go when the train he was taking went to the end of the line.
Should your kid be nicknamed Poindexter when he gets excited to see pictures of presidents..."Ooooh! It's Abraham Lincoln!"?
A trip to Spokane is so much more enjoyable when you have almost 2 weeks. And it's so fun to take your own kids to the places you used to frequent as a kid...Riverfront Park, Manito Park, Downtown, etc. Fun, fun, fun.
Our current favorite family movie is Surf's Up...bunch of penguin surfers...best line is from Chicken Joe (voice by the Napoleon Dynamite dude): "I know he's out here somewhere. I can feel it in my nuggets."
OK...maybe that was more than any of you bargained for. Take a few moments to recover and come back soon.
